What can you earn?
Pay varies widely. One public salary survey lists an average of about ₹5.4 lakh a year for a Japanese translator in India, with entry roles around ₹4 lakh. Treat this as an indicative estimate, not a promise; it rises with higher JLPT levels and technical skills.
How to improve your chances
- Aim for JLPT N3 first, then N2.
- Add a skill the company needs (IT, QA, support, finance, engineering).
- Practise speaking and business Japanese, not just exam Japanese.
